The typically eastern part of the town connecting its old and new part is called Charshia. It makes Ulcinj a town that must be visited. In its 200 shops it has been worked in the same way, so that the craftsmen are at the same time the manufacturers and the sellers of their products.
Charshia is the town centre, the space where a strong spiritual sphere is being created and concentrated, but also the culture and religious and ethical standards. The sound coming from those shops creates a specific liveliness. Charshia is not only interesting for buying, but for walking too. Foreign travel writers have noticed that walking along the main street in Ulcinj creates one of the most exciting moments in the Orient. They used to be particularly impressed by the mixture of Ulcinj traditional costumes which could be seen during market days, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
