The mosque on Pristan was built by the Skadar Ibrahim-Pasha Bushatlija (1797-1809), the brother of Mahmud-Pasha. Ibrahim –Pasha was severely wounded in the battle on Krusi in 1796, so that he built this mosque to express his gratitude to God. He devoted it to the Ulcinj sailors who played a great part in making his family successful and rich, thus it is called Sailors’ Mosque among the people. When opening this mosque (around 1798) he ordered that the profits of four shops in Skadar had to be donated for covering its costs.
In 1931 it was destroyed, and eight decades later rebuilt. It is the most beautiful building belonging to the islamic architecture in Montenegro with a 26-m-high minaret.
